91 families respond to call to come to the aid of kids who want a forever home

Hundreds of people jammed the sanctuary, foyer and classrooms of Valley Assembly Church Sept. 22 at the Focus on the Family Wait No More Conference in support of foster care and adoption.

Focus reports that of the 191 families represented, 91 submitted forms expressing interest in becoming foster parents, adoptive parents or a supportive family.

Foster family and adoption agencies and organizations reported high energy and passionate interest from attendees at the conference. During and after breakout sessions and in an exhibitor hall, foster care and adoption experts and representatives were mobbed by people who felt called to open their homes and lives to children who need a safe, loving home.

SpoFI — the Spokane Fatherhood Initiative — and our sub-ministry Spokane127 were honored to co-host this event. SpoFI leaders have prayed for over a year that God would lead 127 families to become foster, adopt or support families. (The number 127 is from James 1:27, which is a call to the church to support widows and orphans.) While the 91 responses Saturday is short of the goal of 127, SpoFI is confident that God is still at work. Focus on the Family reports that in prior Wait No More conferences, commitment forms continue to come in well past the event. And many who registered were unable to attend and may yet choose to make a commitment to come alongside precious children.

Wait No More Followup Meeting
To continue the momentum fueled by the Wait No More Conference, come lend your voice and talents to Spokane127
NO-HOST LUNCH THURSDAY OCT. 11
Gathering House, 733 W. Garland, 11:30 to 1
(no RSVP needed)

If you feel a nudge from the Lord, please don’t delay in responding. Links to local foster care and adoption agencies and organizations are listed on our new website, www.spokane127.org.

Today we celebrate all that the Lord did and is doing through the Wait No More Conference. We lift up every family that completed a commitment form. And we declare God is still at work and is responding to our prayers to “flip the list” and make Spokane a community with more foster families than children in need.

Thank you for all you do for the King and the Kingdom!
